Moorefield Bridge to Dunham Woodhouse.
Red sky in the morning - and all that. A short shower gave advance notice of what the day held in store. So it was a steady run until lunch time when the weather turned nasty and the odd light shower turned to heavy rain. Time to moor up for the day.
The days are getting shorter and late morning being the time that we start to move. late morning will not be a liesurly start time, but will soon be the norm. I think that autumn is just around the corner. The autumn being a time of soft morning mists.
The paintwork on Rosie has been give some TLC and she is looking much better. When there is rain every few days it is difficult to keep her looking ship shape and clear of the fine dirt that come with the rain. We have just purchased some new rope fenders as replacements for Rosie's existing ones, which have done a good job this cruising season.
We had a steady cruise today though a group on a balloon bedecked hire boat did their best to prove themselves to be stupid fools. It was good to watch them get their comeuppance as they reversed at full speed into the deep mud in the back of a winding hole! Stuck solid with the rain beating down. I gave them a cheery wave and a "have a nice day."
Later we watched the antics of an older couple on a hire boat trying to moor up. He was ashore with the centre line and she was trying to steer. However she was going between full speed forward and full speed reverse. He had to let go of the rope or go in the canal. There were shouts from him about what to do and a bit of colourful abuse from her in return. Priceless!
