Overnight the weather was frequent showers of rain.
Morning: An early start was planned as rain was forecast for early afternoon. After a couple of miles we arrived at the first lock in the Buckby Flight. To find a large queue waiting at the first lock. The second lock in the flight had a damaged top gate. So only narrowboats were able to pass through. The boats were being worked through the lock by hand so that engine wash would not cause the gate to move. We were paired up with another couple, it was a steady run through the remaining locks before the Braunston tunnel.
Afternoon: We entered the tunnel and could see off in the distance a dim boat light. Then I spotted the feint outline of a boat in the tunnel in the light of the boat boat that was following behind. It was on passage without a light! We managed to avid a collision. However, the boat behind us who had not seen the other boat, had a head on collision! I quite like Braunston tunnel as it is quite dry. Then the Braunston flight of locks were negotiated.
Evening: Off to the pub for a meal with our new made friends Dave 'Pete' and Wendy! While sat at the table I glanced out of the window to spot Maffi on Milly M. We invited him to come and join us. An enjoyable evening ensued.
