The Big One (20-3)

Saturday 25th August 2012

Skipton.

Heavy overnight rain with a downturn in the night time temperature led to a cold, wet miserable start to the morning. This is our third day in Skipton which we now think should be twinned with Mogadishu. We would have liked to stay a few days longer.

The moment of realisation.
We had a visit from "Jack" this morning. When it T boned into the side of us. Jack just happens to be a dayhire boat from Pennine Cruises. Piloted by a committee of six women who were all trying to steer the boat.

I intended to have a quiet word when the bitch from hell decided it was nothing to do with me. After a bout of abuse from her, they continued to weave their way along the canal. I caught up with them and took a few photographs. It was interesting to listen to them as they discussed what had happened between themselves. They decided to say that they had not hit another boat. Then the moment when they realised I was taking a video and must have also recorded the conversation as well! Priceless.

I was a bit premature when I said that the rain would keep the late night screamer and shouter disturbance of Skiptons youth toned down. It was a little after midnight that the loud music first began. Only to be accompanied by the scream's and shout's a short time later.

I would not have minded if the music actually carried a tune. However the use of the word music has to be taken loosely in this context. Once again the bus shelters provided a convenient convenience.

Last year we noticed a fellow turn up with a van in the bus station car park. He would then attach a hosepipe to the BW waterpoint and fill up half a dozen large water containers in the back of his van. We have observed the activity continuing throughout our stay here. Now if he does this every day, that's thousands of gallons of CART water he is helping himself to.

Skipton market had the Memsahib loading up on fresh fruit and veg prior to us moving on. But the Challenge Cup between Leeds and Warrington was on TV from Wembley... No contest! Well done Warrington 18-35.
