Spring Summer Cruse 2015 ❷⓿

Oouzel Street to Alvechurch VM
Date 16th June 2015

Overnight the weather was mild with a few light showers.

Morning:  It was the usual leisurely start to the day and after a good cooked breakfast we were under way by 10:30. A steady cruise through Gas Street and out onto the Birmingham Worcester Canal. At bridge 86 we found a fallen tree that had almost blocked the canal. This was reported to CaRT however we managed to squeeze past. Edgbaston Tunnel was the first one at 105 yards.

Afternoon: Lunch was had on the move as the weather was so good we wanted to take advantage of every moment. The next objective was
Wast Hill Tunnel at 2726 yards. This turned out to be one of the wettest tunnels encountered so far this cruise. In the afternoon we came across a sunken boat that was in the process of being raised. Time to moor for the day.

Evening: A quiet night of TV and plans for the morning.

Wildlife:

Birds: House Sparrow, Magpie, Carrion Crow, Rook, Starling, Blackbird, Mallard, Mute Swan, Chiffchaff,  Robin, Blue Tit, Great Tit, Pied Wagtail,  Coot, Moorhen, Canadian Goose, Grey Heron, Wood Pigeon, Buzzard, Black Headed Gull, Swallow, House Martin, Swift and  Jay.

Butterflies: Meadow Brown, Comma, Red Admiral and Peacock
Dragonflies: Common Damselfly
