George Gibson RIP

It is with great sadness we report that the wonderful and well loved Honeystreet based surveyor George Gibson died on July 5th. One time Boat Safety Examiner – “in case of fire you’d be out of there with an axe” – as well as boat surveyor, George gave up the BSS when the registration got too expensive.

He was a campaigner and figure on the Kennet and Avon ever since the earliest days of its restoration and his Gibson’s Boat Services at Honeystreet was a welcome stop for all boaters in the long pound.

A full obituary of George by Bob Naylor can be found on the KAcanalTimes

George’s funeral is today at 2.30pm in St. Mary’s Church, Alton Barnes, Near Marlborough, SN8 4LR.
