Spring Summer Cruse 2015 ❸❷

Sharpness to  Saul Junction.

Date 8 July 2015

Overnight the weather was overcast with a strong wind and light rain showers.

Morning: A usual late morning start saw a slow plod down the canal. We had intended to stop and visit the Slimbridge and the Wetland and Wildlife Trust. However, after filling up with water we decided to plod on to Saul Junction.At the same time do a second load of washing!

Afternoon: Stopped on the visitor moorings at Saul junction and did a couple of jobs round the boat. Hung out the washing to dry.

Evening:  This evening we had a Kingfisher fishing from the tiller arm. Then we watched a few programs on Television
and a can of larger before bed.

Wildlife:

Birds: Dunnock, Magpie, Carrion Crow, Rook, Jackdaw, Blackbird, Mallard, Mute Swan, Robin, Blue Tit, Great Tit, Pied Wagtail, Coot, Moorhen, Cormorant, Grey Lag Goose, Canadian Goose, Kingfisher, Great Crested Grebe, Grey Heron, Wood Pigeon,  Herring Gull, Greater Black Backed Gull, Lesser Black Backed Gull, Black Headed Gull, Common Tern,  Sedge Warbler, Swallow, House Martin, Swift the highlight being a Green Sandpiper.


Butterflies: Meadow Brown and Comma.
Bats: Pipistrelle,  Daubentons,
Dragonflies: Banded Damselfly, Common Damselfly, Four Spot Chaser.
