Spring Summer Cruise 2014 ❺❸

Nimrod Bridge to Braunston Junction.

Overnight weather was windy and cold with the odd shower of rain.

Morning: Very overcast first thing, with broken cloud later. Leisurely breakfast and then prepared a load of washing before setting off. A steady cruise and because the junctions of Napton and Braunston provide a popular link route between the Oxford North and South Canal, the Coventry Canal and the Grand Union North and South. We were not surprised to find it quite busy with hire boats.

Afternoon: We arrived at the puddle bank to find it was full and so we moved round the junction onto the moorings across from the 'Boat House' pub.  The washer had finished and it was time to hand the washing out to dry.

Evening:

Wildlife:

Birds: House Sparrow, Carrion Crow, Rook, Mallard, Mute Swan, Pied Wagtail, Coot, Waterhen, Wood Pigeon, Black Headed Gull, Swallow, House Martin and Swift.

Butterflies: Meadow Brown, Skipper.
Bats: Pipistrelle
Dragonflies: Banded Damselfly, Common Damselfly.
