Spring Summer Cruise 2014 ❶⓿

Torksey Lock to Saxilby Visitor Moorings.

Overnight the weather was cold and overcast, the wind also had a bit of chill about it.

Morning: A few chores out of the way and by 10:30 we were on our way. Said goodbye to a couple of boating friends we had not seen for two years. Last time we met it was at Newark. We passed around 8 deer carcases floating in the canal. This section has regular deer drownings despite several places that have been created to make climbing out of the water easier.

Afternoon: We arrived in the early afternoon to find only one other boat on the moorings. A short time later the three boats that we came up the Trent in convoy with arrived. They decided to stop for coffee and then remained for the day. After spending some time in the Sun Inn!

Evening: The sun came out late in the day, but it had little heat. I prepared a fire in the stove for later.

Wildlife: Swallows, House martins, Oyster catcher and Green sandpiper.
