Summer Cruise 2013 (23)

Skipton to Bingley Five Rise Top Lock

Light rain fell overnight and the sky was clear by dawn. The wind was blustery and made for a cool cruise.

Morning: Reversed to the junction and turned rosie towards the waterpoint, to top up the tank. Got rid of the rubbish in the skip and followed a couple of day boats up the canal.

Afternoon: Steady cruise, hopping between the swing bridges. A few hire boats on the move.

Evening:

Wildlife: What I thought was a huge dragonfly turned out to be a Pipistrelle bat was hunting in amongst the swallows and swifts in the early afternoon.
