The Big One (19-2)

Friday 17th August 2012

Another rain laden day. But it was time for a visit to a local computer store. A quick look around the laptops that were on display. I narrowed my choice down to a couple of different models. Then it was on to the android phone to search out a better price than was on offer. I asked the question - do you price match?

The answer was yes - as long as it was a genuine price on a same spec model. So I came away with a brand new Lenovo (IBM) laptop and more than £150 saved on the ticket price. The Memsahib discovered an Aldi in Chorley and did a shopping trip to stock up the ships stores. Then she discovered a laundry - there was no holding her back and she was soon off to do the latest batch of washing.

Botany Bay is a place well worth mooring up, the tall four story (old mill?) block is full of stalls of all sizes selling lots of different things. There is even a store doing multi-fuel stoves of all sizes and the prices seemed to be quite competitive. There is a restaurant but it's not up to much. Just down the towpath there is a pub called the Lock and Quay. The food is very very good and comes well recommended.

Another reason for mooring up here is the free Wi-Fi connection available in the Botany Bay Restaurant. It's such a good signal that it even reaches as far as the boats moored nearby!

The local booze cruise came past at a very slow speed at 10:45pm and returned at 11:45pm A hen party was in full swing with all the usual "L" plates and sashes and banners. I expect there will be a few hangovers tomorrow.

Bed time included another spectacular thunder storm. Sheet lightening and the noise of the rain on the roof drowned out the noise of the thunder!!!

  1. Thinkpad? Good choice though! We should pass you soon as we have just gone through Burnley. Watch out for Mary H with flowers on the roof.
