Oouzel Street Loop to Peel Wharf, Fazeley Junction

Date 2nd April 2016

Overnight the weatherwas persistant rain.

Morning: Woke to find it was still tipping down with rain. It eased at 10 am so we set off down the Farmers Flight.  A hire boat in front of us made for slow progress.

Afternoon: Started on the Aston Flight before turning right onto the Birmingham Fazeley canal. The next was the Minsworth locks. Here we found a problem with the first gate which would not fully open.  While we were waiting for CaRT to come to the problem. A film crew turned up and started interviewing everyone. Me and the Memsahib were roped in as extras. They filmed us passing through the lock and also recorded the boat engine noise.

Then it was on to the Curdworth Locks before tramping on to Fazeley junction.

Evening:  It was 7pm when we moored up for the night at Fazeley Junction.  Fish and chips was folled by a hot shower and match of the day!

Wildlife:
Birds: House Sparrow, Magpie, Carrion Crow, Rook, Starling, Blackbird, Mallard, Mute Swan, Chiffchaff, Chaffinch, Robin, Blue Tit, Great Tit, Long Tailed Tit, Coot, Moorhen, Grey Lag Goose, Canadian Goose, Kingfisher, Grey Heron, Wood Pigeon, Lapwing, Skylark, Thrush, Herring Gull, Greater Black Backed Gull, Lesser Black Backed Gull, Black Headed Gull, Pheasant,  Green Woodpecker and Lapwing the highlight being a pair of Shelduck.
