Spring Summer Cruse 2015 ❺

Stenson Lock  to Shardlow
2 May 2015

Overnight the weather turned overcast and so the frost was kept at bay and the morning was quite a pleasant one.

Morning: Another leisurely start to the day. Steady cruise passing 8 boats going the other direction. Came across two girls moving a small narrowboat which they had just purchased. We gave them a bit of help and encouragement. However after completing one lock they decided it was enough.

Afternoon: Found a visitor mooring in the centre of Shardlow. Soon I was coughing and sneezing and feeling well below par. Off for a nap for a few hours - woke up feeling much worse.

Evening: Early to bed after taking some pain killers for the aching muscles and joints. Plenty of fluids, whatever I have needs to be flushed out of my system.

Wildlife:

Birds: House Sparrow, Wren, Magpie, Carrion Crow, Rook, Starling, Blackbird, Mallard, Mute Swan, Chiffchaff, Chaffinch, Robin, Blue Tit, Great Tit, Coot, Waterhen, Cormorant, Grey Lag Goose, Canadian Goose, Wood Pigeon, Black Headed Gull, , Sedge Warbler, Swallow, House Martin, Pheasant, Tufted Duck the highlight being an Arctic Tern .

Butterflies: Meadow Brown
