Spring Summer Cruise 2014 ❸❺

Cranfleet Lock to Western Lock

Overnight the weather was quite mild.

Morning: A quick trip up the Erewash to get rid of the household rubbish. Then a steady cruise through Trent Lock heading towards the Trent and Mersey Canal. We shared a lock with a lovely lady on her first week single handing a narrowboat called Kookaburra. Working her way between Nottingham and the sunset at one lock a day.

Afternoon: We stopped early in the afternoon for lunch. Before heading a bit further along the cut. At Western Lock we shared the lock with a couple with the same names as us.  Then we decided to call it a day. I spent a bit of time during the afternoon watching aircraft leaving and arriving at East Midlands Airport.

Evening: An evening spent with Jezza and the Top Gear team.
