A little light rain fell overnight but the sky was only a bit overcast by dawn.
Morning: We planned to leave at 10:00 however we were underway by 09:20. We had a steady cruise along the River Aire. Most of the flood locks were open. Soon we were out on the river making out way down to Lemonroyd. Then the next leg along the river Aire to Ferrybridge. We managed to comfortably eat our lunch on the move.
Afternoon: Soon we were cruising down river to Castleford. We stopped at Knottingley for a trip to the local supermarket to fill the boats stores. Plus we put the wet clothes from the washer to dry in the warm sun.
Evening: Later we travelled on to Whitley Lock where we penned down and moored on the visitor moorings. We met up with a group of friends and spent a bit of time chattering and watching the dogs play in a big heap.
Wildlife: Five Kingfisher, two Arctic Tern, Common Sandpiper, Red Breasted Merganser, large numbers of Dragonflies, Butterflies and a large Water Rat. Pipistrelle Bats in the evening.
