Spring Cruise 2013 (13)

Stainforth New Inn to Long Sandal Visitor Moorings.

Weather: Overcast with a stiff breeze and a few degrees of wind chill. Not a good portent for the day. The temptation to say in bed under a warm duvet was quite an attractive thought.

The towpath from the New Inn at Stainforth back in the direction of Thorne lock is one of the worst sections of towpath for dog shit we have come across so far. I was essential to keep your eyes on where your next footfall would land. After arrival at Long Sandal the Humber Princess put in an appearance on her way back from Rotherham to Goole for another load of oil

Wildlife: A soaring Buzzard provided some welcome entertainment. Plus the usual Mallards, Coots, Moorhen, Grey Heron and the odd Cormorant.
