John Lennon

Wednesday, December 8, marks the 30th anniversary of the death of a legendary singer-songwriter John Lennon. He was a musician and sometime writer who rose to worldwide fame as one of the Beatles.  In the evening as John Lennon and Yoko Ono returned to their New York apartment John was shot in the back four times.

Can it really be thirty years today since John Lennon was murdered in New York. Time flies by so quickly.

One of the reasons why I liked him was because Lennon revealed a rebellious nature and acerbic wit in his music, his writing, his drawings, on film and in interviews. Lennon also became controversial through his political activism. He moved to New York City in 1971, where his criticism of the Vietnam War resulted in a lengthy attempt by Nixon's administration to deport him. At the same time Lennon's songs were adopted as anthems by the anti-war movement.

"Imagine" what might have been had he lived.
