New Adventure (7)

The Road To Ruin – Whoops, I Meant Rouen!

To Denia and Beyond!

Tuesday 13th of January 2015.

Today is intended to be a day of exploration and photography around Denia, now that we have settled into the apartment. The day started out somewhat overcast, but the strong morning sun soon cleared the sky of any trace of cloud. It turned out to be another nice day in the low 20c (70f) Which made the whole experience very enjoyable. I went walkabout, but this time in the car as there is much agricultural land between any of the townships. You certainly need some form of transport as public transport service appear to be quite limited. However, passing through small village streets and sharing the narrow roads with HGV lorries is an interesting experience. Which reminds me.

We began to notice that there were often single young ladies and occasionally in pairs by the side of the road, usually sat on chairs. To all intents and purposes it looked as if they were waiting for someone to give them a lift. Many seemed to be dressed for an evening out rather than daytime clothes. There were one or two in what might best be described as revealing attire! – True to form they were waiting to be picked up. It seems that the 'ladies' all ply the worlds oldest horizontal trade, which is conducted with any passing lorry driver. So being picked up is exactly what they were waiting for!

The Memsahib felt the urge to go shopping once more. I did not raise my usual objection as I wanted to find a pair of comfortable slippers as I had left mine behind on Rosie. We also wanted to hitch a ride on the MacDonald WiFi service to check our emails which comes for the price of a cup of coffee. Drinking or leaving the coffee is optional. Over here what we call Why-Fie is called Wee-Fee, in Spain. This caused some consternation and mild amusement as we thought it was the price of using the toilet facility! Which considering the taste of the McD coffee might go some way of an explanation!
