In the last week Greenpeace passed an incredible milestone: 2 million people signed a petition to demand a protected Arctic.
Greenpeace have also seen the incredible support for this campaign. Through the response to the Greenpeace emergency appeal – it has raised a whopping £99,112. To maintain absolute independence Greenpeace does not accept money from companies or groups.
The CART public appeal for money to help pay for the breach at Dutton on the Trent and Mersey Canal has so far raised £7,000. Included in this figure is a gift of £1,000 pledged by the Trent and Mersey Canal Society.
How many have signed up to become Friends of the Canal And River Trust (CART). One month after its launch, 600 had agreed to donate £3 a month that's a grand total of around £1,800 or about days pay for the CEO!
