Overnight the weather was clear and cold.
Morning: Early breakfast and early start. A couple of hours cruise to Claydon locks. With a rise of 30 feet. The top lock gate is very heavy and some others seemed to be in a similar state. We seemed to meet a boat exiting each lock so never the less a good time was made. The canal is heavily overgrown for long sections and seems to be in dire need of some remedial brush cutting and branch trimming.
Afternoon: Late afternoon arrived in Cropredy and found the only remaining space on the visitor moorings. Festival next weekend and boats arrive up to three weeks in advance. Which is a surprise as the moorings are 48 hours.
Evening: Out to the Brazenose Inn for a meal.
Wildlife:
Birds: Wren, Magpie, Carrion Crow, Rook, Blackbird, Mallard, Mute Swan, Goldfinch, Coot, Moorhen, Canadian Goose, Grey Heron, Wood Pigeon, Buzzard, Black Headed Gull, Common Tern, Sedge Warbler, Swallow, House Martin, Green Woodpecker.
Butterflies: Meadow Brown, Common White, Small White, Comma and Peacock.
Bats: Pipistrelle, Daubentons,
Damselfly: Banded Damselfly, Beautiful Damselfly, Common Blue Damselfly,
Dragonflies: Four Spot Chaser.
